Applying Outside Brazil vs Applying Inside Brazil

Applying Outside Brazil
Applications from outside Brazil are generally processed through the Brazilian consulate responsible for your region. You submit your documents and income proof to the consulate, which forwards the request and issues the visa if approved. Procedures may differ depending on your nationality and consulate.

Applying Inside Brazil
If you are already in Brazil, residence authorization may be possible depending on your legal status and current regulations. The online process generally uses MigranteWeb, which requires a gov.br account, and a gov.br account normally requires a CPF.

Application requirements

- Employment contract, service agreement or equivalent documentation

Financial requirement
Applicants generally need either a monthly foreign income of at least USD 1,500 or savings of at least USD 18,000. Supporting documentation is required in both cases.

Applicants applying from inside Brazil generally require three things to begin the online process:
